Canada’s rising star – Tik Maynard 2015 Pan Am Games,Canadian Eventing,Riders

Canada’s Tik Maynard has already represented Canada at the 2007 Rio de Janeiro Pan Am Games, competing in the Modern Pentathalon. Now a full-time eventer, if the result he just pulled off at Red Hills International with his 7-year-old gelding, Dutch Times, is an indication of what is to come, he may be a second time Pan Am competitor this year in Toronto. Defending his lead after round one on Friday night of the Horseware Indoor Eventing Challenge Canadian, Tik Maynard on Dutch Times laid down another fast round and only one rail to break Waylon Roberts’s four-year winning streak. Tik is only the third person to be able to claim the crown in this class that has been running for nine years. Waylon Roberts holds the record for winning it seven times. Sinead Halpin almost took the ditch when she read the news. Finally, her and Manoir de Carneville (Tate) would be riding for the USA at the 2014 World Equestrian Games (WEG). After receiving an email earlier in the day that riders would be informed of the selections around 6:00 pm, Sinead was anxious on her drive home from the barn.
