Open Preliminary – Curtis Barbour jumps into first

Open Preliminary A leader board shake up switched up the order and a clear round was a little harder to deliver in the Open Preliminary division at the Ontario Championships. After an excellent recovery from a deep spot on the first jump, Curtis Barbour on Free Trade was crowned champion with a clear round finishing on 61.30. Ian Roberts on Copper Cove jumped up from fifth to second with a clear round overall just adding .8 to their dressage score to finish on 62.4. Will O’ Wind Farm was the cold (6 degrees Celsius) and wet setting for the Ontario Horse Trials Association’s Championships today. Emily Beshear jumps into first place after stadium at Richland CIC3*

Only five riders could pull together double clear rounds in the CIC3* course on Friday. Time was a major factor on this track. The allowable time was originally set for 74 seconds but after the first three riders could not come close to making it, the ground jury had a quick meeting and changed the time to 82 seconds. The leader after dressage, Maya Black on Doesn’t Play Fair dropped one rail, landing in second place. Emily Beshear on Shame on the Moon put in a stellar round with a double clear and moved to first from third. Sharon White and Under Suspection…

Alhambra summer event wrap-up

Thank you to Jessica Kerschbaumer for keeping us in the Alberta Eventing loop. Grow Eventing! The Alberta eventing community was out in full force this weekend near Red Deer at the Alhambra Victory Tack Summer Event that wrapped up Sunday. The 3 day competition hosted 170 horse and rider combinations, a slight decline in number from the record breaking 190 entries the event attracted last year.  All divisions were well represented, from Starter to Preliminary. Mother Nature cooperated for most of the weekend, with just some fog first thing for preliminary cross country, and some showers during the afternoon during…
