Pan Am cross-country photos gallery

Yesterday was the 2015 Pan Am cross-country day and it was 32° C and sunny. Horses and riders were sweating buckets as they tackled the beautiful course, which was set at Will O’Wind Farm in Mono, Ontario. The course was designed by Wayne Copping and built by Eric Bull, his business partner Greg Schlappi, and their team. Some of the horses looked very tired as they neared the end of the course, as the rolling hills and heat took its toll. There were a few falls on course, mainly at the last water, fence 20, which was a massive ditch…

Ruy Fonseca remains on top, Jessica Phoenix nudges into 3rd

After a searing hot day on cross-country course, some riders came home grinning and patting their ponies, while others had to walk off the course in disappointment. So goes Eventing, but all reports are that everyone is sound and healthy so it was a good day. 1st place with 38.9 is Ruy Fonseca (BRA) and Tom Bombadill Too Brazil’s Ruy Fonseca and Tom Boombadill Too remain in the individual gold medal position after a very casual run around the Pan Am Championship two-star course. Again, I predicted Ruy as a gold medal contender when we profiled him in the Get to…

Brazil’s Ruy Fonseca takes the lead, Canada’s Kathryn Robinson in 2nd after dressage

The European based riders reigned supreme today. It was rainy and cold, but the riders and horses delivered some hot performances. I was surprised that so many spectators were shocked over Brazil’s results. I guess I am one of the few that pays attention to worldwide results. The Brazilians under the guidance of the legend, Mark Todd, have certainly made their presence known in Toronto. There are still two phases to go, so don’t assume this is a dressage show. The top three, are only separated by less than two points, so this is far from over. 1st place with…

After first horse inspection, one horse not accepted at 2015 Pan Am Games

Colombia’s Mauricio Bermudez’s journey to the Pan Ams ended when his horse Pepper Shot, a 10-year-old, Colombiano de Deporte, gelding was not accepted in the first horse inspection. As disappointing as this is, Colombia still has a team of four, fit and ready to compete. Two other horses were sent to the holding box but made it through. When Rodrigo Martin Abella Lemme’s horse  SVR Arbitro, a 10-year-old gelding was sent to the holding box, the entire Uruguay team was in jeopardy as they only have three riders. Thankfully, there was not an issue and the horse was accepted. Canada’s…
