Ian Roberts – Topping the leader board at Ontario Champs

Will O’ Wind Farm was the cold (6 degrees Celsius) and wet setting for the Ontario Horse Trials Association’s Championships today. Competitors were soaked and miserable but that didn’t stop close to 200 combinations from competing. Riders tackled dressage and cross-country today in challenging conditions and are all seeking a warm dry bed tonight to prepare for tomorrow’s finale. The competition will conclude on Sunday with show-jumping. The weather forecast is looking brighter but still cool for September with a high expected of 16 degrees Celsius. Keep checking back for more updates and pictures of all the division champions. Open…

Bad results plague American eventers on world stage

Sadly, on the 40th anniversary of Bruce Davidson’s historical win at Burghley Horse Trials in 1974, the Americans could not come close to finishing a horse in the top ten. Davidson riding Irish Cap was the first American to ever win Burghley. Stephen Bradley followed with a win 19 years later riding Sassy Reason. Today, marks 21 years and counting since an American has triumphed at the biggest four-star competition on the planet. The 2014 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials had a promising start for Americans with three riders in the top 20 after dressage: Alison Springer and Arthur in…

Emily Beshear jumps into first place after stadium at Richland CIC3*

Only five riders could pull together double clear rounds in the CIC3* course on Friday. Time was a major factor on this track. The allowable time was originally set for 74 seconds but after the first three riders could not come close to making it, the ground jury had a quick meeting and changed the time to 82 seconds. The leader after dressage, Maya Black on Doesn’t Play Fair dropped one rail, landing in second place. Emily Beshear on Shame on the Moon put in a stellar round with a double clear and moved to first from third. Sharon White and Under Suspection…
