Simple but game-changing grooming tip: How to get horses’ hooves looking perfect

Your average equestrian spends more time grooming horses than riding them. Over the years we all learn new, exciting and revolutionary grooming tips and tactics. Check back regularly for more grooming tips as we are on the hunt for the best.

There is nothing like trotting down centreline or jogging a horse up at a horse inspection with hooves that shine like diamonds. However, not all horses are seen with beautiful shiny hooves at horse shows. This is silly. It takes about a minute to transform your horse’s dull and dusty hooves into works of art. All you need is hoof oil and a rag! Simply apply a liberal amount of oil on all of your horse’s hooves, let it sit for a minute or so and then wipe it off with a rag. Voila, they will dark and shiny!

Some people like to use hoof polish but you have to make sure it dries without your horse’s hooves getting dirty or else things will stick in it making it look awful. This is a challenge when you are in a horse show trailer parking lot or temporary stabling. The hoof oil and rag method is quick, easy and fool-proof.
