Find your perfect mount and enjoy an Irish vacationn – Goresbridge Go For Gold Sale

Oscar Wilde once said “I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.” And so it is that some of the most discerning people involved in the sport of Eventing will make their way to the Goresbridge Go For Gold sale, in search of future equine stars.

Goresbridge Horse Sales is perhaps the most synonymous name associated with travelling to Ireland to purchase a horse. Martin and Mary Francis Donohoe run a number of performance sales every year, as well as bloodstock and youngstock sales, and also a monthly sale. Buyers and sellers from every corner of the world-and with all types of budgets and requirements are catered for at the County Kilkenny sales complex.

The Go For Gold sale has consistently achieved its aim of bringing the best young event horses in Ireland to one venue. The most notable success story-amongst very much others – has been Cooley Rorkes Drift, who showed his immense class at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio with an individual 9th place finish, with his regular rider Jonty Evans.

Martin and Mary Frances Donohoe, together with the Goresbridge team, have been delighted with the positive feedback from previous event horse sales, and are looking forward to presenting this year’s catalogue.

As in 2017, potential candidates for the Go For Gold Select Event Horse Sale will be assessed by an internationally experienced panel of judges at strategic venues around the country. “We are delighted to welcome Chris Ryan, Clare Ryan and Sally Parkyn back on board again.”  Said Martin Donohoe. “All three, have bought and sold some of the world’s most successful event horses in recent years.

The success of the sale would not have been possible without the top-class facilities made available at both Barnadown and the Amber Springs Hotel. Maurice Cousins and the team at Barnadown pull out all the stops to provide a perfect showcase venue, while the Amber Springs Hotel competently services a large number of auction attendees.

This year’s sale will again be held in county Wexford, with horses being showcased at Barnadown. This fabulous venue boasts three all-weather competition arenas, a championship grass arena and an all-weather cross-country course – ideal trial facilities for all potential purchasers. The evening auction will be staged at the nearby exquisite Amber Springs Hotel, with the selling taking place during a gala dinner.

Viewing schedule

Horses will be showcased on the flat and over show jumps on Monday, before performing over the cross country on Tuesday morning.

Potential buyers may try horses prior to the sale by appointment with the auctioneers. Please contact the sales office for details.

Purchasers can also try them during the sale at any stage at the owner’s discretion but will be recommended to do so on Wednesday afternoon.
