2010-2015

If you love Eventing trivia, we have lots to share. Our resident Eventing Geek has delved into our database to bring you all sorts of useless (but interesting) Eventing information. In the last six years, the Bromont CCI3* has been the only CCI3* event to take place on Canadian soil. Enjoy this year’s third edition of Facts and Stats – Bromont 2010-2015:

Starters:

  • Since 2010, 139 duos have taken on the Bromont CCI3*.
  • 97 starters have been women42 have been men.

Finishers:

  • A high number of riders have successfully finished Bromont with an event completion rate of 80%, with 111 finishers.
  • The girls have performed better at this event with 80 women finishing (82%) and 31 men finishing (74%).

Riders with the most starts
Sally Cousins (USA) and Buck Davidson (USA) have both had an impressive five starts. Buck’s highest placing was a 4th place finish on Absolute Liberty in 2011 and Sally’s best finish was 3rd in 2013 with Tsunami. This weekend, Sally is competing Knight Lion in this CCI3* and Buck is set to ride Tiger Lion, The Apprentice and Be Mine.

No horse with over two starts
There has not been a horse with more than two starts at Bromont in the last six years. This year, there are no horses competing in the CCI3* who have already competed at here twice. I guess most of these horses move on to competing at four-stars or get sold.

Dressage

  • 15 tests have scored tests below 50.
  • Only one pair has cracked into the 30s. In 2011, Clark Montgomory (USA) and Loughan Glen scored a 39 and were able to only add four cross-country time penalties and four show jumping penalties to win the event.
  • Dressage Queen of Canada – Selena O’Hanlon (CAN) is the only Canadian rider who has delivered a dressage test in the 40s. Last year, she lead the dressage with Foxwood High on a score of 46.7. She strategically took her time on cross-country so they finished the event in 6th place.

  • Highest dressage score was in 2012, Elisa Gibbs (USA) and Medici scored a 76.2 but they did not let that get them down and climbed up the leaderboard to finish their weekend in 8th place.

Cross-country and show jumping

  • A tiny 6% of the starters have made time on cross-country with only 9 speedy pairs managing to beat the clock. If you want to place well at Bromont you should bring your quickest horse!
  • A healthy 64% of the starters have finished without cross-country jumping penalties, with 89 duos making it around with clear jumping.
  • Only a mere 9% of the starters have managed to deliver double clear show jumping rounds with only 12 pairs pulling off this feat.

Scores

  • Clark Montgomery (USA) won the 2011 event with Loughan Glen on a score of 47, giving them the lowest final score. This pair is on the road to Rio after winning the Blenheim CCI3* last year and placing 6th at the Luhmuhlen CCI4*.

  • The highest final score was in 2015, Erin Brooke Freedman (USA) and Voila, completed on a 151.7. Nonetheless they got to join the list of finishers at this prestigious three-star.

Top 10

  • 41% (40) of the female starters finished in the top 10
  • 48% (20) of the male starters finished in the top 10

  • Will Coleman (USA) is the only rider who has won Bromont multiple times in the last six years. He claimed the title in 2010 with Nevada Bay and again in 2013 with Obos O’Reilly.
