Ontario NAJYRC team report – Training camp in Kentucky

Team Ontario!

The North American Junior Young Rider Championships are this week, and Eventing kicks off on Wednesday afternoon with the first horse inspection. Riders from all over North America are either already in Kentucky or they are making their way there. Ontario’s Junior CCI1* team has already arrived and they have been in team training camp. Here is an update straight from Lexington, Kentucky. Thank-you Brittany Olliffe and Lisa Smith for giving us all the inside scoop.

Everyone arrived safely on Friday evening, and all ponies were tucked into the gorgeous stalls at Team CEO Eventing.

Saturday morning everyone jogged up their horses and they are all looking in fine form.

Later that morning everyone had a light dressage lesson with Momo Laframboise, working on some key issues while keeping things light for the horses after their long drive.

After lessons were finished, the team received a collection of items from their generous sponsors. The team took time for for a photo shoot with their new sponsored gear. Clearly Ontario will have the best outfitted team!

Sunday morning, Emily Thompson, Alexis Murray and Autumn Smith had a light jump school with Momo. They were working on getting their horses adjustable and keeping a good canter through a series of exercises and the horses were jumping superbly.

Two team members, Linnea Given and Shannon Finnegan, headed out for a quick cross-country school in the afternoon and their horses also went very well.
