Plantation Field – Results wrap up

Tik Maynard on Sapphire

Certainly not a dressage show, Plantation Field was a true Eventing competition with the leader board shuffling until the last horse crossed the finish line. Each phase clearly revealed the strengths and weaknesses of each horse and rider combination. In the end, the pairs that did reasonably well in dressage, jumped clear and made time earned the top placings. There were seven divisions and three of them were won by riders that were in first place after dressage and kept the pole position throughout the weekend (highlighted in bold):

  • CIC1* – Paige Crotty on Cooley Dawn Raid
  • CIC2* – Buck Davidson on Be Mine
  • CIC3* – Maya Black on Doesn’t Play Fair
  • Advanced – Jennie Brannigan on Cambalda
  • Open Intermediate – Matt Flynn on Baronto
  • Open Preliminary A – Mikaela Kantorowski on Ringfort Swan Song
  • Open Preliminary B  – Mara DePuy on Congo Brazzaville C

Clear cross country rounds:

  • 17 in the CIC1* out of 52 starters
  • 16 in the CIC2* out of 83 starters
  • 2 in the CIC3* out of 51 starters
  • 1 in the Advanced out of 14 starters
  • 5 in the Open Intermediate out of 35 starters
  • 7 in the Open Preliminary out of 49 starters (A & B Classes combined)

Canadian three star selection:

  1. Tik Maynard was the country’s number one star. He was the top placing Canadian in the CIC3*  finishing in 8th place. After watching his cross-country round we will declare him a talent to keep an eye on. Tik and his mount Sapphire are a pair that has the potential to get great results for Canada. Tik also placed 6th on Dutch Times in the Open Intermediate.
  2. Ian Roberts had three horses competing this weekend and he managed to stay on his dressage score with two. In the CIC2*, Ian on Faolan started the weekend in 40th after dressage and catapulted up the leader board to finish in 14th.
  3. Sable Giesler was the only other Canadian to finish on her dressage score.  In the CIC2*, Sable on Evil Munchkin was sitting in a very uncompetitive 39th place. After clear jumping rounds and making time she finished in 11th place as the top Canadian in the CIC2*.
