A legend in the making, Michael Jung does not allow any outside pressure to influence his riding. In an interview with horse web.de, he stated, “I always put pressure on myself to do well. Going in to WEG as favourites for team and individual gold does not put on more pressure. If you allow yourself to feel pressure from the outside then you make mistakes, so I concentrate on what I have to do and put everything else out of my mind.”

Master of all three disciplines
Michael spends time riding horses in all three disciplines. He rides ten eventers, ten show jumpers and three dressage horses. This would account for his developing mastery. He buys young horses and brings them up while continuing to train with his dad, Joachim as his main trainer.

Repeat win?
The 2014 WEG will see Michael once again riding La Biosthetique Sam. They were the individual gold medalists at the 2010 WEG and the 2012 Olympics. Sam was off in 2013 because of an injury but has made a full recovery. Michael has not pushed on Sam at his four outings this year and feels he “is as good as before”.

Can Michael and Sam win gold once again?
