Competing at Badminton is a dream of many eventers. But did you know that you do not have to do a CCI4* to gallop through the same fields that many of Eventing’s greatest riders have at Badminton House? The Mitsubishi Motors Grassroots Championships offer ‘amateur’ riders the chance to qualify throughout the season and all over Great Britain for Badminton in early May. This year the BE100 division was won by Alexandra Farrar-Fry on Grey Finnsky, and Hollie Booth rode Dramatic to victory in the BE90 division. Unlucky horseshoe – VIDEO Break

Uhoh...

While tackling the CCI2* show jumping at Jersey Fresh on the weekend Tamie Smith’s horse, Fleur de Lis, got his front shoe stuck to his belly girth jumping over a fence. A precarious landing followed. Unfortunately despite their very good save they were not able to pull it together in time to make it over the next jump. Fleur de Lis already had a refusal earlier in his round, so the second refusal resulted in their elimination. This ordeal proves that horseshoes being lucky is a false claim. Thanks to Thehorsepesterer for another superb video.   Today’s SCOOP Jessica Phoenix left the hospital today and…

Michael Jung won another event over the weekend (SHOCKER), this time his mount was Halunke FBW, an 11-year-old Württemberger gelding. Adding only 10 cross-country time penalties to his impressive 38.4 dressage score, made him the winner of the CIC3* at Internationale Marbacher Vielseitigkeit in Germany. Although another German rider, Pia Munker was able to deliver the best dressage test aboard Louis M, a 10-year-old Rheinlander geldning, scoring a 33.8. Unfortunately they racked up 14.8 time penalties on cross-country and knocked down a costly rail in show jumping, putting them in fourth place at the end of the weekend. Stylish six (could only find five) at Jersey Fresh

If you are going to rock jeans at a jog, they have to be the right jeans. Perfectly faded in all the right places, the jeans make the jacket and tie cool. Tik Maynard and Dutch Times are kicking the weekend off in style.

The Jersey Fresh first horse inspection was a huge disappointment in terms of riders and fashion. Especially since we like to feature the Stylish Six and we could only in good conscience choose five. The biggest problem with most of the outfits is that they were not so awful standing still, but when the riders jogged, yikes! Most of the clothing was clinging to their bodies in unflattering places. Some of the dresses were way too short and we can’t even publish the photos as our website might get classified as pornographic. Girls, showing your panties when you are in…
